Dhoni Urges India To lift Run Rate Against Bangladesh

World T20:

India are precariously placed in fourth spot of Group Two after one defeat and one win.India desperately need a big victory to strengthen their bid for a semi-finals berth.India are seeking to become the first country to win the World T20 title twice.
Dhoni said India needed to improve. Dhoni said India needed to improve. India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni urged his big-hitters to improve their run rate dramatically against Bangladesh on Wednesday or face the prospect of a humiliating early exit from the World Twenty20 on home soil.

The hosts are precariously placed in fourth spot of Group Two after one defeat and one win. They desperately need a big victory to strengthen their bid for a semi-finals berth.India's six-wicket victory over arch-rivals Pakistan on Saturday will have boosted their confidence after a shock 47-run defeat to New Zealand in their opening group match. But Dhoni said India, who were firm favourites at the start of the tournament to lift a second World T20 title, needed to improve to qualify from a tough group that also includes Australia.

"I still feel there is still scope for improvement and in the coming two games that will be our priority," said the captain.New Zealand top the group on four points after two wins while Pakistan, Australia and India all have two points. However India's run rate, which could determine who qualifies, is considerably worse than their rivals.

"In the first game our run rate went down. So it's not only about winning but you have to take care of the run-rate at some point," added Dhoni.

The hosts are seeking to become the first country to win the World T20 title twice, after clinching the crown in 2007, and also the first to win at home.

Bangladesh, by comparison, will be desperate for a win after two straight losses, the latest to Australia by three wickets on Monday.

The growth in women tourist arrivals dropped from 11.6% in 2013 to 9.7% in 2014 in India.

The number of women tourists visiting India has taken a dip, according to data by the Tourism Ministry. The Nirbhaya gangrape in 2012 had brought international outrage and wide attention to the issue of safety of women in India.

According to a report in a leading daily, the growth in women tourist arrivals dropped from 11.6% in 2013 to 9.7% in 2014. The Tourism Ministry revealed that in 2012, 25 lakh women tourists paid a visit to India. It saw an increase of 11.6% in 2013 with the number going up to over 28 lakh. But in 2014, 31,44,762 women tourists arrived in India. This is an increase of 9.7%, but a dip of 2% from previous years.

The National Crime Records Bureau said, in 2014, 384 cases of crime against women tourists from abroad were registered. In the break up of data, most number of cases were registered in Delhi, Goa, and Uttar Pradesh, reports the daily.

Amitabh Bachchan National Anthem Case

Amitabh Bachchan made a lot of headlines when he sang the National Anthem at Eden Gardens in Kolkata before India and Pakistan's cricket match in the T20 Cricket World Cup. However, this got the superstar into legal trouble as a complaint was filed against him at New Ashok Nagar Police Station, New Delhi for allegedly singing the anthem incorrectly. The complaint stated that Big B took 1 min 22 seconds to sing the anthem as against the 52 seconds prescribed by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Model and actor Arjun Mathur has now come out in support of Amitabh and has bashed the complainant Ulhas PR on his Facebook account. In fact, he is furious with the complainant to an extent that he has suggested him being given a "10-finger slap." Arjun wrote, "Did anyone else know that according to 'rules laid down by the MHA' the length of the national anthem should be no more than 52 seconds? I've DEFINITELY, forcibly been made to stand for a far longer duration before movies in Jai Maharashtra. Mr. Bachchan apparently crossed the 'length limit' by an unimaginable 22 seconds. Complainant needs a 10-finger slap as opposed to the normally prescribed 5."

What is your view on the whole episode? Did Amitabh Bachchan deserve a complaint against him?

Borghat (Assam), Mar 5 (PTI) Stepping up pressure on the Centre, Rahul Gandhi today said he will continue to fight till it rolls back the proposal for levying tax on EPF withdrawals. "This Prime Minister allows thieves to turn their black money into white under the recent budget's 'fair and lovely scheme', but taxes the life-long savings of the honest salaried class," the Congress Vice President said addressing an election rally.
Gandhi said that he would continue to fight for the salaried class and put pressure on the government which "works for a selected group of industrialists and those with black money." "I had said in the media and also to the Prime Minister not to tax the salaried class on their honest savings and do something about it. But in his one-hour speech in Parliament on Thursday, there was not a single mention about this," he said.
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in the 2016-17 Budget has proposed that 60 per cent of withdrawal from contribution to EPF made after April 1 this year will be subject to tax. The proposal has drawn flak from parties, unions and other quarters. Attacking the Prime Minister, Gandhi accused him of playing fraud on the people by failing to fulfill his poll promises and said those who voted for him are now seeking"refund".
"I'll continue to pressurise this government as it is not the government of the honest working class...it is not the government of poor farmers, backward classes, youths, women, dalit, adivasis and minorities," he said. The Congress Vice President, on a two-day visit to the state from yesterday, earlier undertook a six-km padayatra from Shahid Bhawan in Nagaon to Borghat.
Gandhi said that in Parliament he had asked Modi four questions on his promises of bringing back black money and depositing Rs 15 lakh in everybody's bank account, the recent budget proposal of "turning black money to white", Rohith Vemula's suicide, Kanhaiya Kumar and JNU and finally about the number of youths employed as a result of his 'Make in India' scheme. "Have I asked anything wrong? Did I say anything personal? Modiji, in his hour-long speech, instead of giving a reply to these questions, quoted former prime ministers Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi and launched a personal attack on me," Gandhi said at the election meeting.
"The Prime Minister's post is very dignified and he should not have made personal attacks, but I did not mind. He does not give answers, but only makes promises which are hollow," he said. On the JNU row, the Congress Vice-president said BJP cannot be allowed to play with the future of 8000 students of JNU and his party is with them. The government slapped sedition charges on JNUSU President Kanhaiya Kumar and put him in jail. "But I listened to his 20-minute speech and there is not a single word against the country," he said.
Gandhi, quoting a story of a friend who had ordered a computer from an online shopping website but received a parcel with a log of wood inside, alleged that the country was also faced with a similar situation. "People were lured by Modi's false and hollow promises and just like my friend who is now engaged in getting the amount refunded, the people of the country are also asking for a refund," he said,. Referring to Assam, where two-phase polls will be held on April 4 and 11, he praised Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and the people of the state for bringing back peace and development in the state during the last 15 years.
"BJP under Modi believes in creating terror. In Haryana, there was peace for the last 10 years but they came to power and the state was set on fire. Wherever they go, they create tension and make people fight," Gandhi alleged. He said the UPA government had given Rs 5,000 crore to Assam under the special category status, but the BJP government "snatched it away along with the North East Industrial Policy".
